Japanese bike maker, Yamaha, has launched the 2020 FZ-25 and FZS-25 in India with BS6 engines. The Yamaha FZ-25 BS6 has been priced at Rs 1.52 lakh ex-showroom and the FZS-25 is for Rs 1.57 lakh ex-showroom. The BSVI models were unveiled earlier this year in February and while the FZ-25 will be available immediately, the FZS-25 availability will be confirmed later. If you compare the price of theFZ-25 BS4 model, it was priced at Rs 1.36 lakh, and that means there is a significant price hike for the updated models. This extra price is for the updated design elements, new features and the BS6 compliant powertrain. There are new colours on offer but these vary with the variant. For example, the Racing Blue and Metallic Black are for the FZ-25. The S version gets White-Vermillion, Patina Green and Dark Matte Blue colour schemes.
What’s new with the Yamaha FZ-25 BS6 twins?
The Yamaha FZ-25 BS6 twins get a new headlamp cluster that is equipped with bi-functional LED lights and DRLs. A butch tank that gives the bike a muscular look, split-seat setup, an under cowl and blacked out mechanical parts are also available. The FZS-25 adds to all the above mentioned with a longer visor, knuckle guards and gold finished alloy wheels. Both bikes get a multi functional negative LCD dash that displays information like speed, RPM, distance travelled, fuel efficiency, gear position and more. They also get a side stand with engine cut off feature – it prevents the ignition if the side stand is not properly disengaged.
Both bikes house a re-worked BS6 249cc air-cooled engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. This engine produces 20.8PS of power and 20.1Nm of torque. The bike weighs 153kg, which is 5kg more than the BS4 model. Suspension duties are done by 41mm telescopic forks upfront and a 7-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking is taken care by a 282mm disc and 220mm disc at the front/back with dual channel ABS.
The FZs will lock horns with the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer 250, and Bajaj Dominar 250 in the market. It is the least priced and powered bike in this company.
