What’s so special about the Volvo XC90 Excellence Lounge?
Apart from the 3-seater configuration, the Volvo XC90 Excellence Lounge also has high-end trappings. The front passenger seat has made way for a motorised rising place where one sitting at the rear seat can stretch their legs. There is also massage function. Other amenities from the Excellence include a fold-able table, Bower and Wilkins music system, storage compartment that can be locked and many more. There is also an iPad with a B&W headset, refrigerator, crystal champagne glasses and walnut decor.
As far as the engine is concerned, there is a lone petrol engine on offer. This 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine is paired with a 65kW plug-in hybrid system. Collectively, the mechanism makes 410PS of power and 640Nm of torque. There are three driving modes – Pure, Hybrid and Power. The former is available only when there is enough charge in the battery and can run only up to 40km. Hybrid ensures that both the petrol and electric system work in sync while Power ensures that one gets maximum propulsion from the petrol. An 8-speed automatic transmission is mated to this powertrain. 0-100kmph is done in 5.6 seconds. Only 49g/km CO2 emissions are produced.
Speaking on the occasion, Volvo Car India managing director Charles Frump said, “Our distinctive approach aims to deliver a luxurious and calming experience to our customers. Volvo XC90 Excellence Lounge is the most exquisite car we’ve ever made. It rides on the success of over 100 XC90 T8 Excellence (4-seater) delivered and India is the highest selling country for this product.”
