Volkswagen announced earlier this year that they have the Polo as well as Vento automatics in the line-up. The German automobile giant has now launched the Volkswagen Vento as well as Polo without a clutch pedal. The Volkswagen Vento automatic price in India is Rs 12.99 lakh, ex-showroom whereas the Polo is for Rs 9.67 lakh, ex-showroom. While bookings were on for quite sometime, the Volkswagen Vento and Polo automatics delivery will start from this September 15. Contrary to what was offered to us in the name of an automatic earlier, Volkswagen has now shifted to torque converters. The earlier DSG transmission, for example, was not only expensive but wasn’t high on the reliability bit too. With the move to the torque converters, Volkswagen engineers, we thought have lowered the cost of automatics. Instead, the cars are now Rs 1.5 lakh more than the manuals.
Volkswagen Vento automatic, Polo, specs, features
The Vento automatic as well as the Polo now have a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This 3-cylinder motor puts out 110PS of power and 175Nm. The claimed mileage of the Volkswagen Vento automatic is 16.35kmpl while that of the Polo is 16.47kmpl. These numbers are down from the 18kmpl claimed by the manual versions. Volkswagen offers both the Vento as well as Polo automatic only in the Highline Plus guise. This ensures they have all the necessary features are present in this car. There are LED headlights, alloy wheels, auto climate control, centre arm rest and other. A reverse parking camera is available with the Vento while rear parking sensors are available in both.
Volkswagen offers four airbags with the Vento automatic. The Polo in the meanwhile gets only two airbags. ABS with EBD is standard on the cars. The Vento automatic goes up against the City CVT and Verna DCT. As for the Polo auto, it is positioned to go against the Swift AMT as well as Nios AMT.
