It was long known that Toyota India will be launching the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza with its badge. To jog memory cells, both the companies had signed an agreement wherein the former will give the latter access to hybrid tech. In return, MSIL will give its cars to Toyota to be rebadged and sold in India and outside. The Glanza is the first product out of this alliance and is based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Now, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza SUV will be rebadged as the Toyota Urban Cruiser. The Toyota Urban Cruiser SUV has been officially teased by the company. A silhouette is shown with the Toyota badge. Toyota will launch the SUV closer to the festive season. This could indicate a date closer to the end of this month.
What all features does the Toyota Urban Cruiser SUV have?
As it is based on the Vitara Brezza, there are chances that the Urban Cruiser will have the same feature set. The Toyota Urban Cruiser design will more or less be similar to the Maruti. However, we know that the design will be much more different than what it was practised earlier. For example, the grille will be different and so will the bumpers. Toyota might also offer different paint schemes. Inside, the upholstery will be new while the SmartStudio infotainment system will be available.
Toyota will share the 1.5-litre petrol engine with Maruti. This engine is good for making 105PS of power and 138Nm torque. The engine will have smarthybrid tech right from the word go. The transmission options will be a 5-speed manual or 4-speed torque converter. Expect a claimed fuel economy in the range of 18-20kmpl. The Toyota Urban Cruiser SUV price in India will start from Rs 8 lakh and go up to Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom.
