Toyota India has launched the TRD version of the Fortuner. The Toyota Fortuner TRD price in India is Rs 33.85 lakh, ex-showroom. This price is Rs 2.15 lakh over the S2 trim of the regular Fortuner. Toyota says that the TRD will be available in showrooms till stocks last. Bookings are open from today. Only a white colour can be specified with this automatic Fortuner.
What’s new in the Toyota Fortuner TRD?
It is a celebration of 10 years of the Fortuner in India. There are front as well as rear skirts, TRD-finished radiator grille, dual tone roof, 18-inch black alloys and TRD emblem on the outside. Apart from this, on the inside, one gets black and maroon leather seats, red accents on the upholstery as well as TRD emblem.
Mechanically, nothing has changed. A 2.8-litre diesel engine that produces 177PS and 450Nm is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The butch styling, bi-beam LED projectors headlights, powered tail gate, TFT multi information display, climate control, touchscreen audio system, 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and 4-way for front passenger as well as front and rear parking sensors continue.
As far as safety is concerned, there are seven airbags, brake assist, vehicle stability control, hill start assist control, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat tethers. There is also a reverse camera.
Toyota will not stop manufacturing diesel engines as they are it’s mainstay here. The company has categorically said that it will though levy a huge charge on the BS-VI compliant engines.
