Tata Motors has launched the new Winger 15S in India for Rs 12.05 lakh ex-showroom Maharashtra. The Tata Winger 15S has been off the shelf for sometime. The new Winger 15S is available across 23 dealers and Tata Motors showrooms in Maharashtra.
Salient features of the new Tata Winger 15S include 15 seats along with the driver, AC vents on each row, push back seats and charging points on each row. Tata Motors claim to have reduced the NVH significantly for an enhanced drive experience. The independent front suspension as well as anti-roll bars and hydraulic shock absorbers have been tuned to deliver a supple ride. Tata Motors also has given the Winger 15S new 15-inch tyres with wheel caps. The company says that this has helped enhance ground clearance too (now 180mm). With all the seats in place, the Winger offers 600 litres of boot space.
Tata uses the 2.2-litre DICOR diesel engine from the Safari in the Winger. This engine here makes 100PS of power and 190Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. Tata says that the engine has been tuned to deliver a flat torque curve. This will help the vehicle climb gradients with ease on a full load. The front wheel drive ensures better traction control too, says Tata Motors.
Competition for the Tata Winger 15S
In this commercial segment, the Winger will go up against the Force Traveller Royale. Force also offers its vehicle as a 9 or 15 seater. The 9 seater version is priced at Rs 8 lakh while the 15 seater for Rs 15 lakh, ex-showroom Maharashtra. Both the versions are powered by a 3.2-litre diesel engine that makes 115PS of power and 320Nm of torque. Both get a 5-speed manual gearbox. It will be interesting to see the sales numbers of the Winger after a couple of months. Force Motors has it strong in the depths of the state and it needs to be seen if Tata too can work its magic or not.
