What’s special in the Tata Tigor JTP
The Tata Tigor JTP is the sedan version of the Tiago. In terms of looks, it gets aggressive bumpers at the front and back. There are also chrome lined projector headlamps, DRLs, trapezoidal grille as well as side skirts. There are also JTP badges done in red on the grille, back and sides. 15-inch wider tyres and diamond cut alloy wheels are on offer too. Roof mounted spoiler, blacked out roof and dual exhaust ports too are part of the package. On offer is a special white colour as well.
All the recent developments from the facelifted model have made their way here as well. You can check the details here. The Tata Tiago JTP also sports most of the cosmetic changes from the Tigor JTP.
The cabin of the Tata Tigor JTP gets an all black treatment. There are however sporty red accents too. The steering is leather wrapped now and gets contrast red stitching. The same treatment is applied to the seats as well. Tata Motors has used a red stitching for the manual transmission shifter as well. Of course, drilled aluminium pedals too are part of the package. Tata has also added JTP badging for the meter dials though the latter look the same as before. A touchscreen infotainment system has been borrowed from the Tiago NRG.
Under the hood of the Tata Tigor JTP…
…lies a new 1.2-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine. This engine produces 114PS of power and 150Nm of torque. Power is channeled to the front wheels through a new 5-speed gearbox. Tata Motor claims a time of 9.95s from 0-100kmph for the Tiago JTP while the Tata Tigor JTP does it in 10.35. The top speed of the Tiago JTP and Tata Tigor JTP will be around 185kmph.
There are City and Sport modes available like in the regular car. Tata has specifically worked on the exhaust note of both the cars to enhance their sporty appeal. The Tata Tigor JTP and Tiago are built at the firm’s Sanand plant. These vehicles were born after a collaboration with race tuning specialist Jayem Auto from Coimbatore. Tata and Jayem have signed a pact for performance vehicles and the company is called JT Special Vehicles. The aim is to make performance vehicles from potential regular Tata passenger cars.
