The moment that Tata Motors had been building up since the start of 2018 is here. The Tata Harrier prices have been announced. The Tata Harrier price in India is between Rs 12.69 lakh – Rs 16.25 lakh, ex-showroom. There are four variants – XE, XM, XT and XZ. They are all powered by a new 2.0-litre diesel engine, borrowed from the Fiat Chrysler Association. Bookings had already started a few months ago while deliveries will commence soon. Only the base XE trim can be ordered in white colour whereas other colour palettes are available for the rest of the trims.
What’s the Tata Harrier all about?
As is the case, we have been giving you the full download about the Harrier right from the beginning. To summarise, the Harrier is a five seater SUV which is built on a new platform derived from Land Rover. However, the components used here are cost effective and not on the same scale as Land Rovers. The design is the biggest draw and the Tata Harrier looks like it could win beauty contests, a theme which is prevalent with most new-age Tatas. It has got 17-inch alloys in the XZ configuration, LED turn indicators, HID projector headlights, smartphone mirroring, 9-speaker JBL audio system as well as Terrain Response modes.
The engine is a 2.0-litre turbodiesel that pumps out 140PS of power and a class leading 350Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox and power is sent to the front wheels. The Terrain Response system, mentioned earlier, is dependent on the ESP and directs power to the front wheel which has more grip. In terms of safety, the XZ comes with six airbags, disc brake wiping feature, ESP, traction control, ISOFIX child seat mounts and a reverse camera. Standard fare includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.
The Tata Harrier competes with the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Mahindra XUV500.
