Tata Motors has been quite on a roll last year. This year should be no different. It started with the acclaimed Harrier SUV and now will continue with the 45X. No, actually the 45X has now got a name. It will be called the Tata Altroz. Yes, that’s the name it will be called. The car will be unveiled to the public on March 5, 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show. It is likely to go on sale in India in September this year.
Tell me more about the Tata Altroz
The Tata Altroz is based on an all-new platform. The platform is called AlfaArc and will also showcase the new look of the future Tata vehicles. Not only this, as we have come to expect from recent Tata cars, the Altroz will also get best in class features. A sunroof is to be expected from this car. There will also be a touchscreen infotainment system, dual zone climate control, LCD instrument cluster as well as rear AC vents. The Altroz will also get engines from the Nexon. However, it is likely that the tuning may be altered. Both the engines will be equipped with manual as well as auto transmissions.
We also cannot rule out a JTP version of the Altroz. As it stands today, the Tata Altroz JTP can go head-on with the VW Polo TSI as well as the Maruti Baleno RS.
If it isn’t already apparent, the Altroz will compete with the Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz as well as the Hyundai Elite i20. As we have seen with the Harrier, expect a killer pricing strategy from Tata Motors on this one too. However, unlike how Maruti does things, the Altroz will not be sold out of separate dealerships but will share space with the Tiago as well as the Harrier.
