Suzuki India started off the year with a slew of refreshes as well as by introducing the 2019 edition of the Intruder 150. It’s bread and butter models, the Gixxer 150 series though got a few stickers and government-mandated ABS. This time around, this is the most serious change for the Gixxer SF. In fact, this is an all-new bike. Say hello to the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF250. The Suzuki Gixxer SF250 price in India is Rs 1.70 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. Bookings for the motorcycle have started while deliveries will be fulfilled from next week.
Details of the Suzuki Gixxer SF250
The details of the motorcycle were all out, thanks to a leaked document. To jog memory cells, the SF250 boasts a new 250cc single cylinder, fuel injected mill that produces 26.5PS/22.6Nm. This oil-cooled, 4-valve engine is BS-IV compliant and paired to a 6-speed transmission. The kerb weight of the bike is 161kg while the fuel tank capacity is 12 litres. If you look at the ground clearance, it is 165mm.
The design language is similar and mimics Suzuki’s big bikes. Suzuki has gone for all-LED headlights and these look fantastic. The instrument console looks a tad similar to the one in the Burgman with a similar white backlight being used. A 3-piece handlebar is also used while the fuel tank design is also different than the one on the 2018 Gixxer SF150. Suzuki has also made use of the split seat design for the SF250. We like the fact that the dual port exhausts have been carried forward from the 150.
A 110/70R-17m/c tyre is used in the front while the rear boasts a 150 section unit. Dual channel ABS too has been provided. It is but natural that there are discs on both ends. The front suspension consists of conventional forks while the rear has a monoshock unit.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF250 will compete with the Yamaha Fazer 250 (Rs 1.43 lakh), the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 (Rs 1.40 lakh) and the Rs 1.96 lakh Honda CBR250R.
