Maruti Suzuki has launched the Suzuki Connect for its Nexa customers in India. The Suzuki Connect has been launched for Rs 9,999 inclusive of taxes and is for a three year period. It is based on telematics and can be configured with the S-Cross, Ignis, Ciaz and Baleno.
The Suzuki Connect is downloadable on both iOS and Android platforms. Customers will be asked to bring their cars back to Nexa workshops for the software to be installed. Maruti Suzuki claims that this Telematics Control Unit or TCU is difficult to tamper with as it is connected via cellular network and is securely embedded in the car. The company has trained more than 2,800 technicians in India to install this device. The software reports to Nexa customer care servers.
Some of the salient features of the Suzuki Connect are Emergency Alerts to five configurable preset numbers in the case of airbag deployment. It will also send them the live location and car details. The on-board system detects any malfunction with the vehicle and the Nexa customer care will call the customer immediately. Geo fencing, tow away alert and last parked location are also available. Based on the customer’s driving habits, the system will tell him about the average efficiency, how he can improve it and also on the safety aspects.
If a customer has given his vehicle for service, he can track the vehicle’s live location, kilometres driven, seatbelt is worn or not and fuel level. One can also configure speeding alerts or restrict the speed if giving the car to a youngster.
Through this app, Maruti Suzuki aims to enhance the premium nature of its Nexa retail chain. Nexa will also host the facelifted Ciaz soon. The company is expected to launch the much awaited car sometime next month.
