Suzuki Motorcycles has just announced that they have posted a 39 per cent growth for their Indian operations. The company is riding high on the success of the Suzuki Intruder 150, the Access 125 and the Gixxer range of motorcycles. A new scooter is set to join this trio and it is the one showcased at the Auto Expo 2018, the Burgman Street 125. Suzuki will launch the Burgman Street 125 in India on July 19, 2018. Dealers have already started accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs 5,000. The Burgman, much like the Intruder 150, is expected to be a product specifically made for the Indian market.
The Suzuki Burgman Street 125 has a maxi-scooter look. The front end looks very heavy and the headlight is an all-LED unit. The meter console is all-digital and is similar to the Gixxer 150’s unit. There could also be a pass light function available with this scooter. The seats are wide and very comfortable while Suzuki have also added a new end can and LED tail lights to the equation. There is also space for a full face helmet (debatable) and a charging socket under the seat.
Suzuki’s Access 125 motor will provide the firepower and this means the 125cc engine (fuel injection may be added) which brings 8.6PS and 10.2Nm to the table. Suzuki claims to have tuned the engine to suit and offset the Burgman’s 10kg disadvantage over the Access 125. A disc at the front and drum at the rear are expected to be standard while the suspension will be the telescopic units in the front and a monoshock at the back. Suzuki will also have to get the brakes linked with Combined Braking System as per the new rules. The alloy wheels too are done in a black tone.
We expect the prices of the Suzuki Burgman 125 to be around Rs 10,000 more than that of the Suzuki Access 125. This should mean a price of around Rs 72,000. At this price, it will go take a bite of the Vespa 125 sales.
