Suzuki Burgman electric launch soon; spied testing in India

Electric two-wheelers are everywhere. Their acceptance is more widespread than that of four-wheelers. Come to think of it. Suzuki doesn’t have a single electric four-wheeler in India but is readying a two-wheeler. The Suzuki Burgman electric has been spotted testing. Earlier Suzuki bosses had confirmed that if there is a market for it, they will launch an electric scooter. The tentative timeline may have been affected a bit due to the pandemic but it is very much on track. We saw a Suzuki Burgman electric testing in North India. The scooter looks very much like the petrol Burgman but if you notice closely, the paint scheme as well as absence of a silencer are the giveaways. The name of the scooter has been taped to not reveal its identity. A rear tyre hugger is also the new bit here.

Specifics of the Suzuki Burgman electric, features

The scooter will have a revised rear fender. There are also dual shock absorbers on offer. Like the regular scooter, even this one will have a fully-digital instrument console complete with Bluetooth connectivity. There will be additional storage spaces in the front as well as a USB charger under the seat. Charging port of the scooter could be near the front apron.

If you ask us about the powertrain, it will likely a Li-ion swappable unit. This unit could make around 7hp power and 64Nm. A range of 120km can be easily expected whereas the top speed could be limited to 70kmph. The charging time could be five hours. Whether or not a fast charging option will be provided is something that is unclear at the moment.

The Burgman electric will go on to lock horns with the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450X. Expect the electric scooter to be priced at Rs 1.20 lakh, ex-showroom.
