Skoda India has introduced the Skoda Rapid Onyx in India at Rs 9.75 lakh, ex-showroom, pan India. The Skoda Rapid Onyx is a cosmetic variant and sits above the Style trim. It is available for booking now with deliveries slated within the next few days. While the Rs 9.75 lakh is for the 1.6 petrol manual, the petrol-auto is priced at Rs 10.99 lakh, the diesel-manual for Rs 11.58 lakh and Rs 12.73 for the diesel auto. The car competes with the Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and the Honda City.
What’s additional in the Skoda Rapid Onyx?
Skoda offers two exterior paint options with the Onyx. These include the Candy White as well as a new Lapiz Blue scheme. Black body moulding, gloss black ORVMs, 16-inch alloys and boot lip garnish are the cosmetic changes outside. Inside, perforated beige with a wooden leatherette upholstery is offered. The steering wheel is a flat bottom unit with audio controls, rear windscreen blind, waste bin and power sockets are available too. Dual airbags and ABS with EBD are standard while hill assist is available with the automatic trims.
Any powertrain changes in the Skoda Rapid Onyx?
Unfortunately, no. The Rapid range received an update in 2016 and this brought along a new 1.5-litre diesel engine to the fold. The 1.5-litre turbo diesel makes 110PS of power and 250Nm of torque. One can order it with a 6-speed manual or a DSG transmission. Skoda claims a mileage of 21.13 with the manual and 21.72kmpl with the auto transmissions respectively. There is also the 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This one makes 105PS/153Nm and can be paired with manual as well as automatic transmissions. The claimed mileage is 15.41 kmpl (MT) and 14.84 kmpl (AT).
Skoda India will soon be launching the Superb Comfortline. It is being teased on their website and will likely be the base trim. However, it is expected to offer few features as standard. There will also be the Kodiaq special edition coming up soon.
