Renault India has so far sold more than 3.5 lakh Kwid models. This number is from 2016 and includes exports as well. The Renault Kwid got a revamp late last year and what a transformation it has been for this mini-Duster. Renault India upped the ante with the launch of the BS6 model in early 2020. Now, to celebrate the 3.5 lakh units sold, the company has introduced a new variant with the 1.0-litre engine. The Renault Kwid RxL 1.0-litre variant price in India is Rs 4.16 lakh for the manual while the AMT version costs Rs 4.48 lakh, ex-showroom. In the process, the prices of other variants too has been hiked by around Rs 2,000 – 7,000. This RxL is the base variant now with the 1.0-litre engine. Customers can book the car online or go to the dealership and do it. Deliveries are promised from next month.
Renault Kwid RxL 1.0-litre features
The Renault Kwid RxL 1.0-litre model gets a silver wheel cover, silver internally adjustable ORVMs (only on AMT), front power windows, 12v power socket in front and more. A cabin light with theatre dimming effect is present. Renault also offers remote keyless entry with central locking, Bluetooth compatible audio system with USB and aux input support and handsfree telephone. Of course, the variant builds on the features of the RxE model.
The Renault Kwid RxL 1.0-litre variant boasts a 999cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine. This engine makes 68PS of power and 91Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual or automatic is mated to this engine. The AMT also comes with traffic assistance wherein the car will slowly creep forward with accelerator input. The car boasts 184mm ground clearance and also has 279 litres boot space.
In this variant, safety features include a driver airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, front seatbelt warning and pedestrian protection bumpers. The (O) variants get a passenger airbag as well. The Renault Kwid RxL 1.0-litre competes with the Hyundai Santro, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Datsun redi-Go.
