Renault Duster turbo (most-powerful-in-class) launched in India

With great powers come great responsibilities, it is famously said. Renault India has just launched the new Duster turbo and along with it, got the mantle of being the most powerful in it class. Well, we get it. There are plenty of turbo petrol engines within Rs 11 lakh but none as powerful as this. Heck, there aren’t even any diesels this powerful in this price bracket. The Renault Duster turbo price starts in India starts from Rs 10.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.59 lakh, ex-showroom. Renault India has opened bookings of this SUV. The deliveries begin in the next two weeks time. The colour options for the Duster turbo include pearl white, caspian blue, cayenne orange, outback bronze, mahogany brown, and moonlight silver. These are the same as the regular Duster 1.5.


What is new in the Renault Duster turbo?

Let’s go directly to the engine specs of the new Renault Duster turbo. A new 1.3-litre HR13DDT, direct injection, variable valve timing engine is used. This engine puts out 156PS of power and 254Nm of torque. Options of a 6-speed manual or a CVT with manual mode are offered with this engine. The claimed mileage of the manual transmission is 16.5kmpl and 16.42kmpl with CVT.

Cosmetically, one can distinguish the Renault Duster turbo from the regular car by various cues. This includes red accents on the grille, rear as well as on the wheel nut caps. Speaking of wheels, Renault has provided the RxZ trim with 17-inch alloys. Inside, the upholstery is new and there is a bigger 8.0-inhc infotainment from the Triber. The Duster Turbo could be slightly heavier than the regular car but then the power-to-weight ratio could also be superior. The boot spaxe is 475 litres. Safety aids include a reverse parking camera, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors.

Renault also offers the 1.5-litre petrol engine. This motor is good for 104PS of power and 142Nm. A 5-speed manual can be specified with this engine. The claimed fuel efficiency is 14.61kmpl. Prices begin from Rs 8.59 lakh, ex-Mumbai.
