Renault India has had a fruitful year so far. It launched the Duster as well as Triber AMT models. It seems that the French company is now ready with their new model. The new model is a Renault compact SUV and it will soon be launched. This car is based on the to-be-launched Nissan Magnite and might be a premium option to it. It is built on the CMF-A0 platform that also underpins few other Renault-Nissan cars. While the teaser is a bit racy and there are few details to be gleaned from it, we have seen spy pictures of the car and can tell you some bits. From what we hear, the Renault Kiger name has been trademarked and this will be used for this SUV. It also will sit below the Triber but above the Kwid.
More details on Renault compact SUV
The Renault compact SUV, for example, will have LED DRLs that will double up as turn indicators. These also have a synchronised outside motion to them. The headlights will be LED projectors just like in the Magnite. Renault designers have given trendy alloys to the car as well. At the rear, the boot seems a bit pinched, flanked by LED tail lamps.
Inside, the Renault compact SUV shares many bits with the Kwid and Triber. For example, the steering wheel has got cruise control button, volume controls and more. A digital instrument console is provided as well. The 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment is shared with the Nissan Magnite. There is also automatic climate control dialled in and we assume there could be rear AC vents too.
The choice of engines will also be similar to the Nissan – 1.0-litre naturally aspirated and turbo petrol. The latter will get the choice of a 5-speed manual or CVT while the former can be availed with just a manual. Expect prices to start from Rs 6 lakh, ex-showroom.
