Nissan India has launched Nissan Sunny special edition at Rs 8.48 lakh, ex-Delhi. The Nissan Sunny special edition is based on the mid-spec XL trim, costs Rs 10,000 above it and is a limited edition model. It will be available with both petrol and diesel engines. While Nissan hasn’t mentioned the final date when the Sunny special edition sales will stop, we believe it will be 60 days from now. The petrol-CVT Nissan Sunny special edition prices haven’t been announced yet.
What’s new in the Nissan Sunny special edition?
Like most of the festive season launches, even this one gets body graphics, black wheel cover, black roof wrap and a integrated spoiler at the back. Inside, there is a new 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system as well as red seat covers. The music system also has Nissan Connect and smartphone mirroring capability. One can order the Nissan Sunny special edition with the 100PS 1.5-litre petrol with a CVT. The 85PS diesel engine can be availed with a 5-speed manual.
Features like Locate My Car speed alert, geo-fencing, curfew alert, nearby pit-stops and Share My Car Location are available with Nissan Connect. These features were earlier introduced in the Micra. While Nissan India has done precious little in updating either of the cars, these cosmetic bits may help increase sales by a bit.
In other news, Nissan is looking to introduce a slew of SUVs in India. The onslaught will start with the Nissan Kicks. This SUV will be bigger than the Terrano and compete with the Jeep Compass. Currently Nissan is testing powertrain and other components of this SUV for India. Expect a launch in early 2019 with a price tag around Rs 12 lakh. After that, the Nissan X-Trail as well as the Patrol are expected to make their way here. The company may also bring in the next-gen Leaf to India.
