Nissan Magnite SUV unveiled; launch, price, specs, features

Like a topless bar not going for the kill straight on, Nissan India seems to be teasing its Magnite compact SUV for the longest time. First we had a conference to show the concept, another one to show the design and now one more to just show the production SUV. There is no word on the launch timeline or even the engine details. Suffice to say that though we will see the vehicle properly soon. Here then are the details that should hold one in good stead till then. The Nissan Magnite SUV will likely be launched in January 2021. The Nissan Magnite price in India might start from Rs 5.8 lakh and push up to Rs 9 lakh, ex-showroom. This is considering that there is a CVT and Nissan isn’t known for pricing this transmission lower.

What does the Nissan Magnite SUV bring to the table?

We like the design of the car. It has got a panache to it. It will easily give the Kia Sonet a run for its money just by the way it looks. There are bi-LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs as well as fog lamps. Nissan has added skid plates at both ends to make the SUV look beefy. It has got muscular wheel arches that house 16-inch alloys. A dual-tone treatment has been given to the body paint to make it seems distinctive. There is no sunroof on offer though. The rear reminds one of the Renault Triber and looks a cohesive part of the design element.

Inside, there are less buttons on offer though you get a 7.0-inch MID with graphics, a digital instrument console, optional wireless charging, climate control, rear AC vents, and more. Nissan will offer various accessory bundles to go with the car and the Tech package brings with it puddle lamps, wireless charger, air purifier and ambient mood lighting.

Amongst firsts in the segment, Nissan is going to offer an Around View Monitor, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, amongst others. The choice of engine will be the 1.0-litre turbo petrol that has been newly developed and is called HRA0. The power and torque are unknown but the claimed fuel efficiency is 20kmpl. One can ask for a 5-speed manual or CVT with this engine. Safety-wise, there is Vehicle Dynamic Control, rear parking sensors, reverse camera, hill start assist, traction control, ABS with EBD, and dual airbags.
