Jawa Motorcycles, which is now owned by the Mahindra Group revealed its all-new BS-IV engine a few weeks ago. Now the new Jawa motorcycle that will host this engine has been spotted testing in India. The new Jawa motorcycle will be launched in India on November 15, 2018. Here are some of the details we could glean about this motorcycle before the big reveal.
New Jawa motorcycle details
In silhouette, the new Jawa motorcycle looks similar to the 350cc Royal Enfields. This has been done on purpose because that is the target audience for Jawa. The motorcycle gets circular mirrors, a round headlight with possibly a projector beam, telescopic front forks and a gas charged rear unit. The tank looks like a tear drop shaped unit. Jawa is likely to provide a digital instrument cluster. The seat is also a single piece flat unit while the rear grab hold is a tubular unit.
It looks like there are similar sized tyres on both ends – 18-inch units. These are spoked and the rubber seems to be from MRF. The turn indicators are your retro orange cover ones. As discussed earlier, Jawa had revealed the single cylinder engine that will power the motorcycle. This DOHC, single cylinder liquid cooled 293cc engine makes 27PS of power and 28Nm of torque. A 6-speed transmission will likely be paired with this motor. Jawa Motorcycles harps on the float torque curve of this motor and its exhaust note.
Other details that we can glean from the images of the new Jawa motorcycle include a front disc brake and a rear drum unit. A single channel ABS will be on offer as well. There are dual exhausts too. Various luggage mounting points too can be seen. The new Jawa motorcycle price in India will start from Rs 2 lakh. At this point, it will be a tad more expensive than your regular Royal Enfield. It remains to be seen how the distribution as well as after sales are taken care off.
