Hyundai has released a few images of the updated Verna. The Hyundai Verna facelift will be launched soon in India. The company hasn’t told us a timeline but then it is apparent that the Verna is on top of the priority list. A quick look at the images and you will agree with us. The updated Hyundai Verna facelift will take on the Volkswagen Vento as well as the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Here is what has changed
Hyundai Verna facelift details, please!
The new Hyundai Verna facelift features a design language that is bound to attract many customers. It has been diluted for India but then we have seen it as the Solaris for Russia. There are all-LED headlights (yeah, City I am coming for you), new alloys, LED taillights as well as bumpers. Inside, the story isn’t as comprehensive as the outside. There is a new steering wheel as well as infotainment system. We expect a bit more space in the cabin.
The engines are new as well BS6 compliant. There is a turbo petrol engine – 1.0-litre that should make 120PS of power and 175Nm. The other two (petrol/diesel) have been borrowed from the Creta/Seltos. There is an option to choose between 6-speed manual, DCT, torque convertor and CVT. Hyundai have ensured that the customer has the best choices amongst sedans in this class. No other manufacturer offers such a wide option of powetrains in this segment.
All the features and engines should ensure that the Hyundai Verna reaches the top rather quickly. It will be interesting to see how Maruti counters this offensive as it is the only one here that may not have a diesel engine. There is also Volkswagen which has sworn off diesels. The real duel then will be with the Honda City (moving to a new generation).
