Tell me more about the 2020 Honda Africa Twin
The new 2020 Honda Africa Twin is now being locally assembled through the CKD route and is powered by a 1084cc parallel twin engine producing 100bhp of power and 105Nm of torque. While the DCT automatic option continues to be on offer, the much awaited manual gearbox is finally here and it’s a six-speed foot-lever operated mechanism. So most of the Tiger aspirants can be seen switching over now.
Built on an updated chassis, it gets more electronics thanks to the six-axis IMU along with Wheelie control, riding modes and a seven-step traction control along with cruise control. In terms of riding, the seat has been lowered by 20mm to 830mm and you can opt for an even lower 810mm seat height option as well.
Since this is the Adventure Sport that is sold globally, you get a larger 25-litre fuel tank, larger windscreen and tubeless wire-spoke wheels.
Honda says that there is a 10 per cent localisation now. It is the company’s first BS-VI big bike in the country. According to a statement issued a few months ago, this year will be the one for Honda. The company will ensure that there are more fun-to-ride motorcycles coming our way and the 2020 Honda Africa Twin could just be the first of the pack.
