MG Hector to be launched in India on June 27, 2019

After Kia unveiled its new Seltos SUV, MG which has a product in the same space, quickly responded. The British carmaker has announced the launch date of its Hector SUV. The MG Hector will be launched in India on June 27, 2019. Bookings had started on the 4th of this month while MG India boss, Rajeev Chaba confirmed that deliveries will happen closer to the first week of July.
The MG Hector is based on the Baojun 500 SUV. However, MG Motors has added certain design tweaks to ensure that the Indian audience will take to it quickly. The vehicle, in its higher trims features LED projectors, stylish tail lights, 17-inch alloys, a panoramic sunroof, one touch boot operation and a voice-command based infotainment system. The MG Hector also has sufficient space for five while the boot space of 587 litres is big too.
The interior is well done, however a few more creature comforts like additional storage spaces and more would have added a sense of utility
As far as engines are concerned, there are three options for the discerning buyer. This includes a 143PS, 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, a 48V mild hybrid version of the same motor that boasts 20Nm additional torque boot as well as better efficiency. There is also the 170PS, 2.0-litre turbo diesel. MG offers a choice of 6-speed manual as well as automatic transmissions for the petrol. The diesel is available exclusively with the manual transmission.The MG Hector price in India is expected to be between Rs 15-20 lakh, on-road. At this price point, it will locks horns with the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Creta.
