Mercedes-Benz has launched a new trim of the CLA in India. The Mercedes-Benz CLA Urban Sport is priced at Rs 35.99 lakh for the petrol and Rs 36.99 lakh for the diesel, ex-showroom, pan-India. In the CLA line-up, the Urban Sport is positioned above the Style and Sport trims of the CLA. It is priced at nearly Rs 2 lakh more over the corresponding Sport trim. Bookings and deliveries have already started for the new CLA trim.
New features of Mercedes-Benz CLA Urban Sport
Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new Cosmos Black colour, Sport badge at the back and rear carbon fibre style spoiler on the outside. Inside, the changes include dual zone climate control, Sport floor mats, illuminated door sills and rear AC vents. There is also the push button start and COMAND system.
Engine and transmission
There are no mechanical changes to the CLA Urban Sport. The petrol engine has a swept volume of 2,000cc and produces 184PS of power and 300Nm of torque. It is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. 0-100kmph is achieved in just 7,1s while the top speed is 240kmph. As for the diesel engine, it is a 2.1-litre turbo unit that makes 136PS and 300Nm. The same 7-speed transmission does duties here. 0-100kmph is done here in 9 seconds while the top speed is a tad less at 220kmph.
We believe Mercedes-Benz is adding this new trim to infuse interest in the CLA. The festive season is fast approaching and customers usually prefer buying new vehicles around this time. The Mercedes-Benz CLA Urban Sport will be the last attempt at refreshing the model before the all-new CLA or A-Class sedan makes its way to our country next year. It will be slightly bigger than the current CLA and boast a lot more features. A new platform will also underpin it. With this, expect a slight increase in the price as well.
