Mercedes-Benz closed last on a high. With the new year though, things are looking even better. The German company will soon introduce the V-Class van in India this month. Ahead of the van’s launch, the new petrol C200 has been launched. The Mercedes-Benz C200 petrol comes in the Progressive trim and is priced at Rs 43.46 lakh, ex-showroom. To recap, the facelifted C-Class diesel was launched a few months ago and at that point of time, the petrol variant was confirmed for a later date launch.
Mercedes-Benz C200 petrol details
The new Mercedes-Benz C200 is available in the mid-spec Progressive trim. The car looks exactly the same as its diesel counterpart. We like the new look of the Mercedes-Benz C200. It also has adaptive LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, sunroof, electrically assisted rear sun blind, LED tail lights and more. For the price, it is decently kitted. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are now available. However, the infotainment isn’t a touchscreen unit.
What’s more interesting is that Mercedes is using a small 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine in the C200 petrol. This motor produces 184PS of power and 280Nm of torque. A belt-driven integrated starter motor is coupled with this motor. It assists the engine to make an additional 14PS/160Nm. Primarily, Mercedes claims that it ensures lower emissions, higher fuel efficiency and at the same time, turbo lag is almost eliminated. A 9-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. 0-100kmph is done in 7.7 seconds while the top speed is closer to 240kmph.
It is likely that in the coming months, there will be more trims of the C-Class petrol that will be introduced in India. This way, Mercedes will ensure that it has the widest range of engines and variants for the discerning C-Class buyer. The new Mercedes-Benz C200 is the lightest of all C-Class trims and at the same time offers the best safety features too.
