Honda Car India, due to the slowdown, offered discounts throughout 2019. It seems that the trend has been continued even for 2020. In fact, it also throws light on the fact that premium Honda cars find it harder to move off the sales floor. The Honda CR-V is available with a massive Rs 5 lakh discount. This is for 2018 and ’19 models. Honda also has a huge discount on the 2019 Civic models, amounting to Rs 2.5 lakh.
The ever-so-popular Honda City too is in the crosshairs. The City BS-VI petrol is available for Rs 20,000 more than the BS-IV model. Inspite of this, the City is going for a Rs 32,000 discount. Even for the 2020 model that is. For the BS-IV versions, Honda is offering an additional Rs 2,000 off. An exchange bonus of Rs 30,000 too is being offered. Unfortunately, these discounts are only on the petrol models. The diesel soldiers on without any discount.
After the BS-VI update, the Honda City petrol still makes 119PS of power and 145Nm. There is a choice of 5-speed manual and CVT with this engine. The diesel is available only with a 6-speed manual.
Other models like the BR-V too have discounts ranging from Rs 20,000 but again for the petrol versions. Before April 1, 2020, almost the entire range of Honda engines in India will be updated to meet the BS-VI norms. However the smaller Amaze engine might not be and it remains to be seen how Honda tackles this issue. The diesel too will be updated though the 85PS might be axed. Only the 100PS version will stay.
