It is here! The Maruti Suzuki XL6 has been launched in India at Rs 9.79 lakh, ex-showroom. This price is Rs 70,000 more than the Ertiga on which it is based. The top-spec XL6 model retails for Rs 1.46 lakh. Maruti is offering the XL6 with Zeta as well as Alpha trims. These trims also have their automatic versions too. Bookings are already on while deliveries will begin later this month. The Maruti XL6 is available with a choice of six colours of which the Nexa Blue as well as the Khaki are new to the Ertiga range. As far as warranty is concerned, Maruti offers its standard 2 year/40,000km with a choice to extend it by three additional years.
Design-wise, the big chrome bar in the front distinguishes this car from the Ertiga. Also new are the all-LED headlights with LED fog lamps and the black coloured alloy wheels. You will also notice the new roof rails and the slightly altered rear. Moreover, the XL6 is bigger longer, wider as well as taller than the Ertiga. This doesn’t translate to extra space in the cabin as the wheelbase remains the same. Speaking of which, the XL6 offers six seats and will retail out of Nexa showrooms. There is a bit of change from the Ertiga’s interior and this includes the black dashboard trim as well as the SmartPlay Studio infotainment system.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol SHVS engine that produces 104PS and 138Nm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic. The claimed mileage is 19kmpl, the same as the Ertiga. The automatic claims a slightly lower 17.99kmpl. There will be no diesel or CNG on offer, given the premium position of the vehicle.
