The Maruti Suzuki Ignis now gets a limited edition in India. The Maruti Suzuki Ignis limited edition is based on the Delta trim and can now be booked across Nexa dealerships. While Maruti Suzuki hasn’t made an official statement yet, the Nexa website does share some details. We expect the prices to be roughly Rs 15,000 more than that of the corresponding Delta trim. At present, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis Delta is priced at Rs 5.28 lakh for the petrol manual and Rs 5.82 lakh for the automatic, ex-showroom Delhi. There is no specified date till when the units will also be on sale.
Changes to the Maruti Suzuki Ignis limited edition
This is again a cosmetically enhanced version of the Ignis meant to spruce up sales numbers. To do this, there are skid plates at the front and back, silver moulding on the sides, black cladding on the side as well as a rear spoiler. There are no garish graphics or differently-styled wheel caps. The cabin too gets a different upholstery. Part of the equipment involves electrically adjustable mirrors, keyless entry and Bluetooth-enabled music system. Dual airbags and ABS with EBD are standard features.
Earlier this year, the diesel variants of the Ignis were discontinued. Low demand was the main reason. Currently, the Ignis can be ordered with an 85PS/114Nm 1.2-litre petrol engine. This engine can be optioned with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT.
The Ignis was introduced in India as a lifestyle option to the regular hatchbacks. However, sales didn’t take off exactly as Maruti would have liked to. The high price tag is said to be one of the reasons. However, as of late, with some discounts the Ignis now comfortably sells more than 3,000 units in a month. It retails out of the 200+ Nexa dealerships all over India. It is likely that Maruti may not give a facelift to the Ignis and instead may choose to discontinue it altogether.
