Maruti Suzuki Ignis facelift launched in India

Showcased at the Auto Expo 2020, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis facelift has now been launched. The Maruti Suzuki Ignis facelift price in India now is Rs 4.83 lakh and goes up to Rs 7.13 lakh, ex-showroom. It is surprising to note that in spite of the changes, the price has reduced by a couple of thousand rupees. Nexa dealerships across India have started taking bookings as well as deliveries will be fulfilled from next month.

Give me full details of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis facelift

Two new colours – Turquoise Blue and Lucent Orange have been introduced. The engine is now BS6 compliant and at the same time, there is some nip and tuck as well. The Maruti Suzuki Ignis facelift has a new grille, bumpers, skid plates at the front and back as well as different alloy wheel design. Inside, nothing much has changed and the Ignis facelift looks nearly the same as before. Cut to the fact that the touchscreen system is new (in fact the same that is being widely used across all Marutis), there is not much differentiating. The upholstery is claimed to have been revised as well.

Coming back to the engine, the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor makes 83PS of power and 114Nm of torque. There is a 5-speed manual as well as automatic being offered. No hybrid tech has been given to the Ignis. The claimed fuel efficiency is 21kmpl.

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis facelift is available in the same trims as before. This includes Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha, with the AMT available on the last three. Maruti calls the Ignis as a mini-SUV. From the look of it, the vehicle has a SUV stance but no real off-road credentials. It will compete with the Mahindra KUV100 Nxt as well as the more affordable Maruti S-Presso.

Sales of the Ignis have not really taken off since it’s launch in 2017. In fact, Maruti also discontinued the 1.3-litre Multijet engine in 2018 from this model. Maruti also cut down on the Ignis production. It remains to be seen if the facelifted model makes any difference to the Ignis’ story in India. One can buy the Ignis with a two year or 40,000km warranty.
