Maruti Suzuki Dzire facelift launched in India

Maruti Suzuki has had three launches so far this year. They are perhaps going the Mercedes-Benz way of launching a new or updated vehicle every month. The latest is the Maruti Suzuki Dzire facelift. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire facelift price in India starts from Rs 5.89 lakh and goes up to Rs 8.80 lakh, ex-showroom. Previously, the Dzire petrol used to start from Rs 5.83 lakh. Bookings have started at all Arena dealerships. Deliveries are being promised in two weeks time. Two new colours have been added to the palette as well – Premium Silver and Phoenix Red.

What’s new in the Maruti Suzuki Dzire facelift?

Maruti Suzuki, to fend off competition, has ensured that the new Dzire stays relevant in the segment. While it is the highest seller, the older model was retailing from 2017 without significant cosmetic changes. Now, the grille has been revised and so has the hood shape. Maruti has also added new bumpers at the front and back. We like the black colored alloy wheels too. We expect no changes at the rear.

As far as the cabin is concerned, there is a new dual tone upholstery and a 5-inch multi information display in the instrument pod. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire facelift also gets a new 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment complete with the live traffic updates and navigation. Cruise control too has been dialled in and so has auto closing mirrors.

If you thought that was it, there is more. The company has also now got in the Baleno engine here. The 1.2-litre K Series dualjet, dual variable valve timing motor makes 90PS of power and 114Nm torque. This engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. There is also the optional AMT.

Compared to this, the previous BS6 petrol engine used to make 83hp of power and same amount of torque. Maruti has increased the efficiency of the new dualjet petrol engine too. While the previous engine used to deliver 21.21kmpl, the new one gives 23.26kmpl in manual and 24.12kmpl in AMT mode. There is also the idle start-stop provided as standard.

Part of the standard for AMT trims include hill hold function, a much needed thing. There is also electronic stability program on offer. Brakes of the Dzire too have been uprated. ISOFIX is also standard.
