Maruti Suzuki cuts prices of all its vehicles in India

Facelifted Maruti Alto 800

It’s a slowdown that we are witnessing and Maruti Suzuki is no exception to it. The manufacturer has already discounts across the range even for its diesel range. But then, sales are still dismal at best. The recent corporate tax benefits by the finance minister is something that bought about a sigh of relief albeit temporary for all auto makers. Maruti is passing on this benefit to the end users. Yes, you read it right. The maker is giving discounts of up to Rs 5,000 on all its vehicles.

Does this corporate tax benefit stand good along with the other discounts by Maruti Suzuki?

The carmaker has confirmed that this discount will stand good with the other benefits that they are offering. For example, the Swift diesel has got more than Rs 75,000 discounts. So if the new scheme is applied, a potential buyer gets more than Rs 80,000 discount. Maruti has also rolled out the list of cars that get this benefit. These are the Alto 800, Alto K10, Swift diesel, Celerio, Baleno diesel, Ignis, Dzire diesel, Tour S diesel, Vitara Brezza and S-Cross. The Ertiga as well as the Ciaz or even the recently launched XL6 aren’t part of this scheme. The additional discount starts from September 25.

It is highly likely that other car makers too will pass on the corporate tax discount to their customers. As it is, Hyundai currently is giving out more than Rs 2 lakh discounts on select cars. Similarly Datsun as well as other car makers too are in the process of offering higher discounts. It is widely said that the slowdown is because of the upcoming BS-VI emissions and the general misconception about the technology. Buyers also assume that there will be more discounts come March 2020. This is also perceived to be the reason behind the slowdown. It is commendable that most of Maruti petrol cars are already BS-VI at the moment.
