Maruti Suzuki will be developing four new products for the Indian market. These cars will be launched by 2022. As is apparent, it is a busy time at MSIL plants. One such upcoming car has now been spotted testing. The Maruti Suzuki Alto 2021 model was spotted doing its test rounds. How do we know its an Alto? Just look at the silhouette. Everything here shouts that the design is inspired from the K10 model. However, the black camo can definitely hide some of the other bits which are not visible. For example, the headlights are all-new and so are the bumpers. Maruti could make the move to 14-inch wheels in a bid to give the Alto a bit more dominating stance. The tail lights could also be LED units. Here then is a detailed version of what all could have changed.
Maruti Suzuki Alto 2021 features, specs
The new Maruti Suzuki Alto 2021 will be the second-gen if we look at the K10. It will likely carry over the 1.0-litre engine from the S-Presso. This engine is good for 69PS of power and 90Nm. A 5-speed manual or an AMT will be provided with this engine. The new Alto is expected to be priced below the S-Presso and it will be a daunting task for Maruti to decide on what features to keep. Expect a semi-digital dashboard, touchscreen infotainment system as well as rear water bottle holders.
Maruti will give dual airbags (standard on the VXi+), ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and speed warning function on the Alto 2021. Not only this, the front seat belt warning will also be standard. There will be power windows for the front as well as rear passengers. Alloy wheels will be offered as a MSIL genuine accessory. Given that the S-Presso has not had a very good run, Maruti will not want to waste the Alto nameplate.
Expect a launch by Diwali next year at a starting price of Rs 3.3 lakh, ex-showroom.
