The Mahindra XUV300 is again in the news. This time, officially the company has released details about the XUV300 SUV variants as well as expected features. Furthermore, we have got a clear price bracket in which the XUV300 SUV will operate. The Mahindra XUV300 will be launched in India next month. Bookings have already started across Mahindra dealerships as well as online. The booking amount is Rs 20,000.
Mahindra XUV300 SUV variants and features
The XUV300 SUV will be sold in two variants – petrol and diesel. The trim options for each will include the nomenclature similar to that of the XUV500 – W4, W6, W8 and W8 (O). Standard across the range will be all four power windows, remote fuel lid opener, disc brakes on all four wheels, 6-speed manual transmission, LED tail lamps, dual airbags, ABS with EBD. Mahindra says that the W8 (O) trim will have “additional technology and safety features”. We believe Mahindra is referring to the electric sunroof, and additional four airbags along with ESP. Lest we forget, the XUV300 SUV will also come with front parking sensors. The dual zone climate control too should be exclusive to the W8 (O).
As far as engines are concerned, this is the first time Mahindra has actually mentioned the details. The diesel will be the 1.5-litre from the Marazzo and we expect it to make around 120PS but the torque will stay put at 300Nm. The petrol engine will be a new unit for the Indian market – a 1.2-litre turbocharged motor that will have 200Nm torque output. We expect both the engines to deliver around 18kmpl fuel efficiency.
In terms of features, Mahindra has got the competition creamed. Spy shots of the base and top variant taken a few days ago show the differences as well. The XUV300 SUV price in India, as indicated by Mahindra, will be between Rs 8-12 lakh, ex-showroom. It will compete with the Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport as well as the Maruti Vitara Brezza and S-Cross.
