The Mahindra Marazzo is doing a Royal Enfield. In the sense that every single day before its launch, we get new spy shots and relevant information. The Mahindra Marazzo website itself has been teasing one detail a day. However, demo units have already started arriving at dealerships and the vehicle has been spotted without any camouflage. Dealers have also started taking bookings at Rs 21,000. The vehicle officially goes on sale in India on September 3, 2018.
As is evident from the demo vehicle unit in the picture, the Mahindra Marazzo looks quite modern. It has got dual chamber projector headlights with DRLs, a shark teeth-inspired grille and machined alloy wheels. For the latter, it looks like Mahindra may offer 16 and 17-inch wheels depending on the trims and the mid-spec will get a different pattern alloy wheel. Mahindra has also mounted the ORVMs on the front door. The C-pillar, as is the norm these days, gets blacked-out inserts. Since the Marazzo itself is inspired from a shark, the tail light too follows the shark’s fin pattern. A thick bar of chrome connects the two tail lights.
Broadly, the cabin sees the inclusion of a touchscreen infotainment system, roof mounted AC for the second and third row, automatic climate control and USB charging ports for each row. Speaking of which, Mahindra will offer the car with seven and eight seater options. Leatherette seat upholstery will also be offered while the dashboard will be done in piano black.
A new 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine will be on offer with the Mahindra Marazzo. This engine is expected to make 120PS and 300Nm. It will also have an Eco and Power mode. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. An automatic though is expected at a later date. Expect ABS, dual airbags, speed warning, ISOFIX child seat mounts and rear parking sensors as standard.
Variant-wise break up of the Mahindra Marazzo
As per reports, the Mahindra Marazzo will be available in four trims – M2, M4, M6 and M8. Here is a likely feature list of all the four trims.
The M2 trim of the Marazzo will get halogen headlights, 16-inch steel wheels, central locking, manually adjustable ORVMs, day-night mirror, fabric upholstery, manual airconditioning and 2-DIN music system with aux compatibility.
Apart from features of the M2, this one will get electrically adjustable mirrors, 16-inch wheels with caps on them, rear washer-wiper and a rear USB socket.
16-inch alloys, projector headlights, fog lamps at the front and back, cornering function for front fog lights, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls and remote keyless entry.
17-inch machined alloys, leatherette upholstery, DRLs, bigger infotainment system with navigation and Android Auto as well as CarPlay compatibility, cooled glove box, puddle lights, reverse camera, power folding mirrors and cruise control.
We expect the Mahindra Marazzo to give a tough competition to the Toyota Innova Crysta. However, it will be priced slightly higher to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Prices should range in the Rs 8-12 lakh, ex-showroom.
