Mahindra has launched the electric version of the KUV, the e-KUV for a price tag of Rs. 8.25 lakhs, ex-showroom after all the FAME2 benefits. This is the most affordable electric car in the Indian car market as of today.
Based on the regular KUV100, the EV is another example of an every day car metamorphosis into a futuristic product after the Tata Nexon EV.
Since it is a regular KUV, the styling and design is the same robust self but with a panel grille and all-LED lighting to save energy. It gets a 15.9kWh battery pack that is capable of delivering 150kms range and has a fast charging option of going up to 80% in 55 minutes. The battery is liquid cooled for safety in the Indian climate and is also a connected car that gets an app for performing various functions.
The e-XUV300 also gets similar styling as the KUV, developing it into Mahindra’s electric signature. While we await details on the e-XUV300, Mahindra has announced that the car will be launched later this year to take on the Nexon EV and should be priced similarly starting at about Rs.13 lakh.
Finally, Mahindra also revealed the Funster concept which is a design study on a modern family car. Just like the XUV coupe concept in 2018, we do not expect this to be a production car but the real world design will surely take its inspiration at least in the cabin design which looks quite modern and funky.
