This has got to be the hottest spied image on the internet right now. We ain’t referring to the PC-Nick marriage pictures which are flooding the internet these days. This is about the KTM 390 Duke Adventure motorcycle images. This is the first set of images which are proof enough that KTM India has started testing the motorcycle. This indicates that the launch is just six months away. Going by KTM’s previous launch records, the 390 Duke Adventure should be in showrooms before July 2019.
KTM 390 Duke Adventure, interesting!
It indeed is an interesting and exciting factor. KTMs have always been known for their performance as well as price balance. The new KTM 390 Duke Adventure should tread these very lines. From the heavily camouflaged spy images, we can glean that the motorcycle will have a long travel suspension. It also gets off-road oriented dual purpose tyres. Dual channel ABS too will be on offer. However, this may not be a hardcore off-roader as the motorcycle has got alloy wheels. It is likely that the off-road capabilities will be at par with the new BMW G 310 GS.
Other details noted from the spied image shows a broad and hopefully comfortable seat, a raised handlebar, engine bash plate, small mirrors on wider stalks, cowl above the all-LED headlight and no bar-end weights. The engine is the same 373cc unit that makes 43.5PS of power. However, it could be geared slightly differently for use in the KTM 390 Duke Adventure. Our hunch is that the engine may also be slightly detuned. It will still remain the most powerful sub-400cc adventure motorcycle on sale in India though.
Bajaj Auto is not going to be far behind to adopt a similar method. Earlier, they had the AS 150 and 200 on sale. However due to the poor off-road ability of both motorcycles, sales were tepid. It is likely that with an uprated motor and better styling, Bajaj too can cash in on the adventure tourer craze.
