KTM India has finally launched the entry-level 125 Duke. The KTM 125 Duke price in India is Rs 1.18 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. This is Rs 42,000 over the 200 Duke that was launched recently with ABS. For the Indian market, this is the first time that a sporty 125cc motorcycle has been launched. Honda tried it a few years ago with the Stunner but that one had the same Shine’s engine whereas the KTM has an all-new unit. Bookings have started while deliveries will be fulfilled in a month.
What’s the deal about the KTM 125 Duke?
The KTM 125 Duke is an entry-level motorcycle in Europe. It borrows its looks from the pre-facelifted 200 Duke. It even has similar graphics. KTM has retained most of the equipment from the bigger Dukes and this includes upside down forks, disc brakes at both ends and an all-digital instrument cluster. The liquid-cooled, fuel injected 125cc engine boasts 14.5PS of power and 12Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. Single channel ABS is on offer with the KTM 125 Duke. The rear suspension consists of a monoshock unit and the chassis uses a trellis frame.
This KTM also comes with orange wheels but with MRF rubber at both ends. One can order the KTM 125 Duke in orange and white colours. In terms of price, it will compete with the Yamaha FZ25 and the Apache RTR 200. Both are significantly more powerful than the Duke but only the Apache gets optional ABS. The motorcycle will retail out of the 450 exclusive KTM showrooms in India.
Speaking on the occasion Amit Nandi, president (Probiking) at Bajaj Auto Ltd. said “KTMs are always about high performance, edgy design and a thrilling ride. The 125 Duke will be the new stepping stone into the KTM brand for riders starting out in the world of racing”
