Kia has tasted success with the Seltos and it was followed by the launch of the Carnival MPV. The company does not seem to stop at that as it has been testing its compact SUV, Sonet, for sometime. The Kia Sonet is scheduled for August 7 to make its global debut. Kia has released four new sketches of the upcoming Sonet revealing the exterior and interior design. The car looks to be having a bold face with sleek DRLs and body cladding underneath the front bumper. The honeycomb grille takes centre place with the proud Kia badging on the bonnet of the car. It also gets roof rails and the rear design may have a single strip of LED taillight. The body cladding makes an appearance at the rear side as well.
The top model will ride on alloy wheels with flared wheel arches that show off the sporty character of the car. Inside the cabin, will be a high tech digital display and instrument cluster that features a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen and navigation system with UVO connected technology. It also gets steering mounted audio controls, driving modes, traction modes and air vents that are finished in a metallic, diamond-knurled pattern.
What’s under the hood of the Kia Sonet?
The upcoming Kia Sonet borrows its engine from the Hyundai Venue. It will be offered with three engine options – two petrol and one diesel. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox that produces 83PS of power and 114Nm of torque. A smaller 119PS/172Nm 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine will have a 6-speed manual/7-speed DCT. The 1.5-litre diesel engine will get a 6-speed manual gearbox that churns out 100PS/240Nm. The Sonet turbo petrol will also feature the iMT system that was recently launched for the Hyundai Venue.
