Kia Motors has been prepping its debut in India for a long time and now the time has finally arrived. The company’s first product in the country, the Kia Seltos SUV, is now officially available for pre-bookings for customers. The Seltos can be booked for a token amount of Rs 25,000 and can be done online as well as company’s 265 sales points across 160 cities in India.
Kia has already revealed the details about the Seltos SUV at its first public unveiling. The SUV will be available in two main variants: GT Line and Tech Line. It will have three engine options- 1.5L petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.4L turbo petrol with choices of either 6-speed manual or three types of automatic transmission: 7DCT, IVT or 6AT. All the engines will be compliant to the latest BS-VI norms.
What features does the Kia Seltos pack?
Talking about the design, Kia Seltos looks quite modern and stylish from the outside. It has been given sharp lines and funky elements to make it stand out from the competition and it very well does. The signature Kia grille paired with the sharp headlamp cluster design gives it a quite unique front profile. It is also available with dual tone paint which makes it even more appealing.
Inside the cabin, the Seltos will come packed with modern tech and features. On the dash, it gets a pair of 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch multi-info display. Apart from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, it also comes with Kia’s UVO (Your Voice) connect system that uses an eSIM for connectivity. The Seltos also gets the segment first 8-inch head-up display for the driver. It also gets features like wireless charging, in-car WiFi and a 360-degree camera. To get your mood better, it offers ambient cabin lighting and a 400W 8-speaker Bose sound system.
Kia has also equipped the Seltos with a lot of safety features as well. The SUV comes with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, traction control system, brake assist, hill-start assist control, front & rear parking sensors. Some modern safety and convenience features in the car include stolen vehicle tracking, auto collision notification, SOS, remote engine start-stop and In-car air quality monitor.
Kia will announce the prices of the Seltos at the official launch on August 22. We are expecting Kia to price the SUV between Rs 11 lakh to Rs 17 lakh, ex-showroom. If priced properly, the Seltos seem to have the potential to break into the crowded but popular compact SUV space in the country. For that, it will have to score better than the rivals like Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier and its own cousin Hyundai Creta.
