Kia Motors has been taking journalists nearly every month to foreign locales. The Korean car maker has already set up its plant in Anantpur and will start marketing its products from next year. Speaking of products, the manufacturer hasn’t revealed its Indian line up yet. Now a fresh development has come. An online report says that the Kia Carnival, a large MPV will make its way down to India. Kia Motors India already has a test unit available in New Delhi. This is where the company is headquartered at currently as well.
What’s the Kia Carnival?
It is an MPV which at this point can be called as a Toyota Innova Crysta rival. However, to give you a reference point, the Kia Carnival measures upwards of 5,000mm in length while the Crysta is 4,700mm long. God save the drive of this car in narrow lanes! We like the fact that there are multiple seating options in the Carnival. These include seven, eight and 11 seater versions. For the Indian market, Kia may choose the seven seater version only.
The Kia Carnival will have a lounge-like seating arrangement for the second row. Kia Motors wants this vehicle to be extremely focused towards the rear passenger comfort. Four zone climate control, powered sun blinds, adjustable rear seats, ventilated option and more will be available. A separate entertainment package too will be on offer. For people working in the film industry, it could act like a small vanity van as well.
In terms of looks, the Kia Carnival will be less boxy looking than the Toyota Innova Crysta. It will also have LED headlights/fog lights/rear lights, dual sunroof, 18-inch machined alloys and automatic powered tail gate. The engine powering the Kia Carnival will be a 2.2-litre diesel unit that produces 202PS and 441Nm. An 8-speed automatic will send power to the rear wheels.
The Kia Carnival price in India could start upwards of Rs 25 lakh and we expect two variants to be on offer.
