Its been a year since the all-new Santro came out and Hyundai India is celebrating the occasion, with an anniversary edition. The Hyundai Santro anniversary edition price in India is Rs 5.17 lakh and it is based on the Sportz trim. The AMT too gains an anniversary edition and it is priced at Rs 5.74 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom and the anniversary model is a limited edition – available only for 90 days from now. All of Hyundai showrooms across the country are ready to give delivery in a week’s time.
What are the changes on the Hyundai Santro anniversary edition?
The Hyundai Santro anniversary edition gets new grey wheel covers. A body side moulding, anniversary edition emblem, rear chrome garnish and gloss black roof rails have been added. The ORVM too is done in black and so are the door handles. This anniversary edition will be available only in the Blue colour exterior paint scheme while the upholstery is all done in grey. The AC vents too are done in blue.
As is usually the case, there are no other mechanical changes. The Santro anniversary edition boasts a 1.1-litre, BS-IV compliant, petrol engine. This motor is good for 69PS of power and 99Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual or AMT can be ordered with this engine. Hyundai quotes a fuel efficiency above 20kmpl. There is also a CNG version available though this one isn’t on offer with the anniversary edition.
The Santro is doing steady numbers however not to the tune that Hyundai hoped it will. While there are features galore, buyers are disappointed with the low real world mileage. This was an issue with the older Santro too. Moreover, customers aren’t taking to the fact that there is no alloy wheels for the Santro. Paying more than Rs 6 lakh for a top-spec hatch and not getting alloys is a deal breaker for many, it seems. The Santro goes up against the Datsun Go and the Maruti Suzuki WagonR.
