The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is one fashionable car. That it has been silently garnering the sales numbers is another topic. Hyundai, however isn’t happy to rest on this fact. The Korean carmaker has now introduced the Hyundai Nios turbo petrol in India. The Hyundai Nios turbo petrol price in India starts from Rs 7.68 lakh, ex-showroom. A Sportz trim and Sportz dual tone trims (Rs 7.73 lakh) are the only variants available. The colour options too are limited. Fiery Red with a blacked out roof and Polar White with the same treatment along with single tone colour options – Aqua Teal & Polar White. Bookings started from the time the vehicle was showcased at Auto Expo while the deliveries too have begun.
What’s new in the Hyundai Nios turbo petrol?
The Hyundai Nios turbo petrol is powered by a 998cc, 3-cylinder engine that makes 100PS of power and 171Nm of torque. There is a 5-speed manual transmission available with this engine. This is the same unit from the Venue and now it is available in the Aura too. Sadly, though, there is no DSG provided with this engine. The claimed mileage is 20.31kmpl.
Apart from the usual niceties, the Nios turbo petrol gets projector headlights, 15-inch alloy wheels with diamond-cut tech, all-black upholstery with nice red stitching and a wireless phone charger. Visually though we would have liked some more drama – a bit more of sporty bits and not just Turbo badges at front as well as rear.
Given that India currently doesn’t have a hot hatch in the lower price range, the Nios turbo petrol makes sense. The Volkswagen Polo is an ageing yet very capable product. But then the Hyundai trumps it both in terms of features as well as price. The price is nearly Rs 1.5 lakh lower than that of the Polo. Plus there is the legendary Hyundai reliability on offer.
