New Honda Civic details
As we all know, this is the 10th generation Civic. India got the 7th generation unit and it was discontinued after being in existence for almost five years here. The design is as radical as the last Civic we saw here. There are now all-LED headlamps along with projector fog lights, 17-inch machined alloys as well as a brilliantly executed tail end. The interior too draws inspiration from the new CR-V. The instrument cluster is all digital while there is also dual zone climate control, a sunroof, Lane Watch system, six airbags, powered driver’s seat and more. This time around, for the powertrain, Honda has introduced a diesel engine as well. The diesel is a 1.6-litre unit and is also in use in the CR-V. This engine produces 120PS of power and 300Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission while the claimed ARAI fuel efficiency is a lofty 26.5kmpl. The petrol in the meanwhile is a 1.8-litre unit and makes 141PS of power and 174Nm. It can be availed with only a CVT and the claimed mileage is 16.5kmpl.Honda is betting big on the new Civic to bring in the sales numbers. Recently, it was announced that production of the Brio has been stopped. The Amaze has been doing decent numbers but it is still the City that is the bread and butter model for Honda in India. It is likely that the new Civic will bring in numbers for HCIL.We will be bringing you all the juice on the new Civic right from ground zero. Stay tuned!
