Honda CBR650R bookings begin in India

The new Honda CBR650F was launched amidst much fanfare at the 2016 Auto Expo. However, two years later, the motorcycle was discontinued as well. It was also the first CKD Honda product here. Now Honda has started bookings of the CBR650R in India. One can book the Honda CBR650R online for Rs 15,000 or across 22 Wing World dealerships in India. The Honda CBR650R price in India is expected to be pegged below Rs 8 lakh. Price announcement will happen in the next few days.

What is new about the Honda CBR650R

Apart from the fact that it is an all-new motorcycle, there are many changes to it. These include all-LED headlights (fast becoming a Honda signature), a 6kg lighter chassis, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), dual channel ABS, four exhaust pipes and all-LCD instrument cluster. If that wasn’t enough, Honda has gone ahead and tuned the 650cc four cylinder, liquid-cooled engine to rev 1,000rpm higher than before. The motor produces 95PS of power at 12,000rpm and boasts torque of 64Nm at 8,500rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed slipper assist clutch.

Honda claims that the engineers have given their all in ensuring that the motor sounds wicked on the boil. This was a complaint with the 650F that it didn’t sound sporty enough. Moreover, HSTC ensures that the rear wheel traction is optimum and it can also be turned off to ensure a bit of slide when required. Adding to the superlative suspension is the Showa Separate Function Forks which are placed upside down. To body colours – red as well as black can be ordered.
