Honda has launched the first BS-VI two-wheeler in India. The Honda Activa 125 BS-VI is in its second generation and is priced at Rs 67,490, ex-showroom. There are three trims – standard, alloy and deluxe. These prices are Rs 7,000 over the regular Activa. Mass production has already begun and the dispatches to dealerships have also started. A 6-year warranty on this product is available though it technically is three years and an extension.
What’s new in the Honda Activa 125 BS-VI?
The styling itself is new. This is after all the second generation model. The LED position lamps have been restyled and the scooter looks a bit more youthful. There are new colour options to choose from – rebel red metallic, majestic brown, pearl precious white, midnight blue and heavy grey.
Honda has also added many new features to the Activa 125. This includes a silent starter mechanism that doesn’t cause sound pollution at start-up. Moreover, there is a pass switch, econometer, 5-in-1 switch, side stand inhibitor, external fuel filler and also idling start-stop system. The latter is similar to the tech seen on Hero vehicles and cuts off the engine when it detects that it has been idling for a long time. One can always switch it off as well. This contributes to improved efficiency and lower emissions.
Speaking of which, the BS-VI compliant engine is fed by a fuel injector. Honda calls this as Enhanced Smart Power. The 125cc, 4-stroke motor produces 8.1PS which is lower than that made by the BS-IV model’s 8.5PS. Honda hasn’t mentioned efficiency numbers yet but we expect them to be slightly lower than the previous model’s 58kmpl.
