After what seemed like a long wait, Hero Motocorp has launched its fully-faired bike, the Xtreme 200S. The Hero Xtreme 200S BS6 was launched last year in a BS4 form. However, due to the new regulations, Hero had to discontinue the bike for some time. A new white colour has been added to the palette. There are other things also added to the bike. Best thing is that if one books the bike now, they will get their hands on it just before Diwali. The new Hero Xtreme 200S BS6 price in India is Rs 1,15,715, ex-showroom. The cost is Rs 15,000 more than that of the BS4 model. Do you think this price rise is justified or will you prefer to go with something which has a bit more power and costs additional? We are looking at the ageing yet competitive Bajaj Pulsar 220F.
What’s new in the Hero Xtreme 200S BS6 model?
Just like the Hero XPulse 200 BS6, even the Xtreme gets an oil-cooler now. Over the years, customers have been complaining about the new engines getting hot real quick. Hero has heeded to their advise and have fitted an oil-cooler to their 200cc bikes. This oil-cooler will help keep temperature to bearable levels. At the same time, it along with the catalytic converter have added on 6kg to the bike – now weighs at 154kg. Hero has retained the all-digital instrument console that also comes with turn-by-turn navigation. It is a nice bit and quite helpful too.
There is a disc at the front and back. These have decent stopping power whereas there is ABS linked to the front wheel. The 200cc, single-cylinder engine is detuned though and makes 17.8PS of power and 16.4Nm. The gearbox is a 5-speed unit. Hero has added one year of roadside assistance with the motorcycle’s price. You also get a five year warranty.
