Hero MotoCorp showed off the XPulse 200, its lower-capacity adventure motorcycle for the global markets. The motorcycle was also showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in India to a great reception. Now, Hero MotoCorp has officially revealed the production-spec’s images to its dealers. The images you see below are from the dealer presentation.
The Hero XPulse 200 is the Hero Impulse’s successor. The erstwhile 150cc machine was initially accepted by the audience but after a few months, it was clear that the word of mouth publicity or the negative reactions about the under-powered engine were not going to do the manufacturer any favours. In a few years thereafter, production of the Hero Impulse was stopped.
As far as the new motorcycle is concerned, it looks the same just like any small capacity adventure motorcycle will. This means a tall stance, a beak for a mudguard, rounded headlamp that also hosts twin LED DRLs, knuckle guards as well as a tall windscreen signal its intent. Hero has also added a bash plate under the engine of the XPulse 200 so that adventure junkies can take it off-road without worrying about stray rocks or stones hitting the motor. Similar to the Impulse, the Xpulse also features an exhaust that is slung higher up, right next to the pillion. The rear grab rails also look similar to the ones that the Impulse wore. Giving it more off-road cred will be the long travel suspension in the front and a monoshock at the rear. The front is a 21-inch tyre while the rear is a 19-inch unit. Hero pegs the ground clearance of the bike at 220mm but the seat height should even accommodate smaller riders.
Addressing the main issue of the Hero Impulse 150 is a new 200cc motor that also powers the Xtreme 200R. This fuel injected single engine makes 18.4PS and 17.1Nm. It is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. Hero has given the XPulse 200 tubed spoke tyres with disc brakes at both the ends but with only ABS on the front wheel. The ABS can be disengaged. From the look of it, there is also an all-digital instrument cluster similar to the ones we have seen on new Honda motorcycles but this one also boasts turn by turn navigation. This bike will also feature an engine kill switch.
Price of the Hero XPulse 200 is expected to be around Rs 1.05 lakh, making it the most affordable adventure motorcycle in the country.
