Hero Super Splendor BS6 unveiled: Honda Shine competitor is now feature-rich

In a gala event, earlier this week, Hero MotoCorp made up for its absence at the Auto Expo 2020. The world’s largest motorcycle maker introduced three new motorcycles while a couple more were waiting in the flanks. You might have read about the new Xtreme 160, Glamour 125, Passion Pro and the Rally Kit for the Xpulse 200. However, on the sidelines were the Hero Super Splendor BS6. The Hero Super Splendor BS6 was showcased at the event. Hero says that they are looking at a March 2020 launch for the vehicle. It may be noted that its chief competitor, the Honda Shine, got a BS6 update yesterday and prices too were announced.

What’s new in the Hero Super Splendor BS6?

The design is new and there is an oval bikini fairing. At the same time, the bodywork seems a tad more sleeker than the BS4 version. There are new paint schemes and Hero’s affinity towards the yellow colour is obvious here too. Hero has also ensured a longer padded seat. The instrument console is an analogue affair with a side stand indicator, fuel injection indicator as well as the tell tale lights. On the right side of the handle bar lies the starter button as well as the i3S switch. Hero has also ensured that the motorcycle receives an updated heart.

The Hero Super Splendor BS6 gets a 124cc fuel injected, single cylinder engine. This motor produces 10.8PS and 10.6Nm. The gearbox has now been updated to a 5-speed unit. While the power and torque numbers are down from the previous 11PS thereabouts, mileage is claimed to have gone up. Along with it, the emissions are claimed to be lower and the engine is overall much smoother thanks to the use of 10 sensors.

The Hero Super Splendor BS6 also has an improved ground clearance of 180mm. There is a disc (optional) brake in the front while a rear drum is standard. As is the case with motorcycles in this category, the Integrated Braking System or CBS is available as standard too. While the motorcycle prices have not been revealed, expect a Rs 6,000 increase over the Rs 61,000 price of the BS4 model.
