Hero is one of those manufacturers that will not go around blowing its own trumpet. Hero MotoCorp got in two new products last year, the Destini 125 and the Xtreme 200R. However, there have been minor updates to its other vehicles too. The first update for this year comes in the form of the Hero HF Deluxe IBS. The Hero HF Deluxe IBS price in India is Rs 49,067 for the all-black version while other colours will cost you Rs 350 more. Bookings have started, however the motorcycles are yet to reach the dealerships and hence deliveries could be slightly delayed.
What’s new in the Hero HF Deluxe IBS
As the moniker suggests, the Hero HF Deluxe now get Integrated Braking System (IBS). Hero has also added a larger 130mm drum brake at the rear, up from the 110mm employed earlier. IBS ensures that when the rider presses the rear brake, 40 per cent of the front brake is also brought into play. This reduces the braking distance and is perceived to be safer too. However, it doesn’t prevent wheel lockup like ABS will. Not only this, the Hero HF Deluxe IBS also gets i3S technology. This tech, as we know, cuts off the engine while idling. This prevents fuel wastage as well as lowers the emissions. Many of Hero’s motorcycles and now even the Destini scooter have this.
The HF Deluxe range boasts a 97.2cc Honda-derived engine which makes 8.36PS of power and 8.05Nm of torque. This sloper engine is mated to a 4-speed gearbox which shifts in an all-up pattern. Hero has recently revamped the meter console and it includes the blue light for the i3S tech. A fuel gauge as well as side stand warning light too have been incorporated. Competition to the HF Deluxe will come from the TVS Radeon (Rs 48,400) as well as the Honda CD Dream (Rs 46,894), ex-Mumbai.
