Harley-Davidson Originals pre-owned motorcycle program announced for India

Thinking of buying a used Harley-Davidson motorcycle but unsure of where to start? Your worries are about to end. Harley-Davidson India has just announced its own pre-owned motorcycle program. The Harley-Davidson Originals will ensure that customers receive certified Harley bikes. All these motorcycle undergo a 99 point quality check as well as a one year warranty from the maker. Should the customer want, he/she can also get the warranty extended by a few more years.

This initiative by Harley will ensure that customers will not have to  worry about checking the authenticity of their bike or the seller. The Harley-Davidson Originals was started at a selected few dealerships across India. The response from customers was gauged and then accordingly rolled out to all other dealerships. Harley-Davidson Originals customers will also gain entry to the HOG. HOG stands for Harley Owners Group and has more than a million members worldwide. The HOGs have organised rides on weekends and otherwise.

Harley-Davidson Originals future plans

Given that Harley-Davidson is planning to go bullish on the market soon, the Originals will play a huge role. Earlier this year, Harley-Davidson announced that they plan to get into the sub 500cc segment. A partner will be chosen from the Asian region. These vehicles will also be likely locally assembled in India and then exported to other regions. Harley is looking to take on its arch nemesis, Royal Enfield with this idea. Coincidentally, RE too announced its Vintage pre-owned motorcycle program earlier this year. RE is also set to enter the above 500cc segment with the launch of the GT 650 twins.

The Royal Enfield GT 650 twins will take on the Harley-Davidson Street 750. Competition is set to heat up as even TVS-BMW will be entering this segment soon. Triumph-Bajaj too will be a part of this segment and below. The Brit and Indian bike maker did say that they have plans to go into the sub-300cc segment with new offerings.
